Guehi is running a risk though if he does want Liverpool and it's true that he would want to wait a year. Whose to say in a year we don't move on to another target?

I'm convinced, Everton are back.

Ornstein does say if he leaves he wants to come to us, but it might be that we have to wait a year. And this could be him coming in for Ibou.
Also could be a Palace thing as you say, they may want more money too. Guess we'll find out soon one way or another.

Fair play if he wants to stay but then again, is it because he wants a bigger signing on bonus OR he is genuinely wanting more playing time because of next year's world cup?

Oh. My bad. All along I thought they have to sell Isak in order to buy. 😅 They don’t yet. But selling Isak will “unlock” their ability to spend way more than just whatever they sell him for due to how PSR works. They could in theory revamp their whole first 11 by selling Isak but that’s assuming players want to go there, which doesn’t seem to be the case. Understood. Thanks for the clarification.

David_Ornstein on Alexander Isak:
“The story we reported on the Athletic is extremely well and throughly sourced from multiple contacts privy to the situation and there is an awareness of the perspective of Alexander Isak, he does not intend to play for Newcastle again; he regards his career at the club to be over. Even if a deal is not done and he is still at Newcastle, he has no desire to be reintegrated into the first team setup. This is all hypothetical, it’s almost like let’s see if that’s the case if it happens.
We all know Liverpool made a £110m bid for him. If there is any encouragement given to Liverpool that they will come and try close a deal. It would take a price that Newcastle deem acceptable and they need one or more replacements that they feel is adequate. We don’t know the final outcome but it clearly is still possible that the potential move to Liverpool would happen, that is what Alexander Isak wants.”

Fella would be crazy to turn down the chance to move to Liverpool.
The only way this falls down is if we don't want to pay what's being asked. If he knocks us back because he needs to be convinced he will play then good luck to him.

I'd be fine moving on from Guehi and stealing a march on Arsenal a season early and getting that Jeremy Jacquet guy in, he'd probably cost a similar amount to what we're willing to pay for Guehi but he's 5 years younger and taller while also being quick and looks good on the ball.
We've got Leoni for the homegrown thing anyway.

Seeking assurances he'll be allowed to graffiti his personal commentary over all club social initiatives?

Carra very much flies the LFC flag, but he deliberately tries to sound 'objective', but to the point where he actually tips into sounding a bit 'anti-LFC'. He also like being contrarian, as it makes for better TV. But his 'blue nose history' is very old history, and his real support for the club can't really be questioned. I always try to judge a man by what I think he’d be like if we went for a pint. In Carraghers case I think he’d be an absolute knob Definitely agree with that too.

If guehi doesnt want to play for us because he is afraid of his england spot we need to move on. Tell him he is not getting signed next year iether. We need someone who has the right attitude and desire
Any footballer that prioritizes his england or international spot is not the right fit for us

Feels like a whole lot of the forthcoming season is resting on signing a good quality centre back, and Isak.
Signing those is the difference between genuinely winning the title again and just challenging.

Yeah look i get Guehi has priorities to be in Englands World Cup team but honestly if he is that short sighted then I dont want him at our club.
We have our priorities to and its crystal clear now why he wanted those "assurances" for being in the first 11 and not having the confidence to believe in yourself and your talent to break into the first 11 by yourself then yeah, move on please.

We've done great work this window, but would be a shame if we left ourselves short.

Yesterday we were confident that we are getting two CBs, now it feels as if Leoni is done but Guehi in the balance.
It's been a crazy window. Actually looking forward the season starting to take my mind off this.

I think Guehi doesnt want to risk his england spot So i guess it will only be leoni As for Isak i think it depends if they can get 2 strikers in and if we are willing to pay close to 150 million

We have to have a plan B incase he doesnt join

We have to have a plan B incase he doesnt join I think we will see movement soon, if Isak was a no go; we'd have moved on from him, to who, no idea. Could be we move to getting a winger instead. As for CB, we Leoni will be the Quansah replacement and we go with what we have. But let's see, it's a very fluid situation, isn't it?
