Main thing to remember is that Bournemouth should have been down to 10 men in the first half. The corruption starts early this season. That was a bizarre as Endo coming on as right back. Well tbf the 4th official is just as much at fault that Endo subbed on at rb. Ref's have had a mare.

I think it's overblown. He was hit and miss first half along with a lot plus some that were almost all miss. Second half he was quietly good but let down by others. Szob trying a stupid showboating flick that cost a goal. Cody taking a needless speculative shot when Wirtz had played 2 or 3 one-twos to methodically move us 40 yards up the pitch with control. Mo going for some kind of wonder solo goal when we had an overload with Wirtz in prime position. I thought he was really poor in the first half. He gave the ball away too often and he was bullied out of possession repeatedly. Even when he had some time he seemed to make the wrong decision and give it away. He seemed a little sharper in the second half but he was still underwhelming imo. He's the 2x Bundesliga player of the year, he cost £116m and he's been given the seven shirt. He should be delivering more than that. I'm a big fan by the way, I just expect a lot from him because of how good he was at Leverkusen. It's only one game though, let's see how he's playing in a months time. He might have got caught up to speed by then. This league is played at a much faster pace than the Bundesliga. He's going to need to get used to that pretty quickly. This is ridiculous.

Disgusted with the fan or fans who abused the Bournemouth player, If he or she can be identified, a life ban from Anfield is a possibility.Sooner or later it will lead to a walk off and I would support any team that did make a stand, He's been arrested and will be banned for life from all football grounds.

I've had loads of racial abuse in my time but it just makes me more determined. John Barnes mindset.
However, different people react in different ways and i fully understand that.

I doubt it but hopefully it’s something that’s just been misheard.
Need to let the investigation run its course. Absolute ****** idiot if he has said something racist though.

Carragher is a helment. He's like Neville. They just use anything to argue their already preconceived view. And then focusses endlessly on anything to justify his view. Agree. It's like he really tries to have a dig at us all the time.

Midfield balance wasn’t great and the pace of the game seemed to catch Wirtz out. But still at 2-0 there was some really bad decisions from players and the manager. I don’t know why we had to keep playing high risk high tempo football at that point in the game. Maybe it was the adrenaline of first game of the season? Still though getting the 3 points is really what matters so very happy in that regard. Ekitike really excites me and great to see him get off to a flyer Hats off to Semenyo for a fantastic performance. If the racist was still in the ground and I'd scored, I'd have run over and laughed in his face.

Some of the subs were bad. Kerkez had to go. Ekitike? I get the frustration but he was running on fumes and the sub was a consequence of us being mid transfer restructure rather than anything tactical or personal I think. We have to protect him simply. Endo at RB? Awful. Gomez basically had to come on to correct it. Mac, probably understandable based on fitness. Wirtz? Tough one. He was trying the right things while others were losing their heads. But having taken a striker off I thought we needed one back on at that stage. Yeah Ekitike in his interview saying he was cramping at the 60min mark and is still getting used to the intensity. But I can't excuse the Endo sub, especially with Gomez on the bench. Wirtz will improve and Kerkez can do much better. Funny how people started missing Kerkez once Robbo came on. Just shows how much his legs have gone.

Getting jailed for inciting hotels to be burned down and then pleading guilty. Don't get confused with both cases.

What's ridiculous about any of that? Because you're using his price tag and the fact he has the no.7 using him as a stick to beat him with. He wasn't poor but he wasn't great. This is the sort of *** we will read from rival fans.

Main thing?
We got the win on a hugely emotional night.
9 days now to sign a player or two, work on some things in training (Kerkez positioning, Mac fitness, controlling the ball better, Leoni settling) and Grav is back.

Jesus Christ. Strap yourselves in people 😂 same old Liverpool eh!
I will have faith in the management and players to work things out along the way. It’s the first game of the season, I’ll take the 3 points and the thriller to boot. Far too many emotions for day one but nothing we’re not used to!
I’m sort of expecting a mixed bag of performances at least for the first half of this season but am hoping things click sooner than I anticipate. Football is never perfect and personally I’m buzzing with the end to the game, sometimes just take it for what it is in the moment and enjoy the ride!
3 points, improvements to make, but onwards and upwards - all for you, our number 20, Diogo ♥️

But having taken a striker off I thought we needed one back on at that stage. I'm a massive Wirtz fan and on the ball I agree with you. He will always create stuff when he's on the pitch, he almost scored, too. Off the ball he still has to get used to the EPL and to our team, though. He didn't win a single challenge in the first half and got bullied off the ball quite a few times leading to counters. He'll have his breakthrough game soon enough, but I do wonder if we should go with the Grav-Macca-Szobo midfield at St. James next matchday, they are much more physical than Bournemouth.

Do people think we'd be more defensively solid with Guehi in the side? Or is it a structural problem right now? We've conceded in every game so far including pre season. I think it is a new player problem at the back, 2 new FBs is not easy to just click totally. We will have to go through a lot of teething issues early this season, but we can still win games and it will click eventually. Guehi will bring a lot more, also Grav is back next game and that will help too.
