Nah **** that. I’ll never take a watered down offer like that. It’s just a theory mate. Lots of moving parts atm, no one knows anyone really; it’s just something I am hypnotising based on what we saw last week and today. Paul McKenna? Is that you? 321 and we're back in the room...😉

Don’t understand the hatred against Endo in this game. Guy win the Ball Back, Dom ******* it all up like he often did, Konate try to defend the counter while VVD and Robertson do what they do every single time : nothing.
Why only target Endo ? He is not a RB and did what he could.
He is the least of our problem in defense and I Hope we get two new CB to challenge the usual suspects.

Another thing that did my head in was Carragher repeating that Bournemouth should have been 2 nil up in the first half, and completely ignoring the chances we crated. Like Mo had a belting shot and Virgils header in the first five minutes but no mention of it. Like our chances don’t count but the oppositions always matter. He’s gonna push this narrative all season long. I'd love to see SKY introduce an option where you could listen to different commentators for the game.

Tactically, I think what we need to figure out is how the midfield and fullbacks interact now.
Does one fullback push on the by line while the other inverts? Kerkez was very restrained attackingly yesterday, even when were camped there. Szoboszlai drifted too much to the right as a winger and was not playing CM the way Grav did, did not even try to. Dom and Mac were drifting same side a few sides exposing the other side. Kerkez is not doing the inverting properly, not can he he's a flyer.
And then you got Wirtz, he'd need to come back in midfield, to cover one of the CMs going and helping the fullbacks. But also remaining upfront in a 4 man press.
Currently, that's the final piece. We need to organise that proper, and I think it's a matter of time. Dom is new to his role, Kerkez, Frimpong, Wirtz, even Bradley and Robbo and Jones will be doing something different.
Also it doesn't help that van Dijk and Konate are easing their way into the season.
Yesterday relaxed my concern somewhat, interestingly, the two goals we scored were not good but still required a lot IMO from the opposition.
Bournemouth was a really stern test, and they were kicking us for fun too.

Good to see Gomez back fit though. He showed again that he is a very good right back. He stabilised the ship when he came on. Honestly if both are fit he is arguably a better option than Bradley. Absolutely. What a bonus. My son and I were still scratching our heads over Endo at right back when Joe came on.

Just watched Slot's post match interview. He is a great personality for the game. His comedic timing at the end is great, pauses "because we lost some players." Whilst looking at the pundits with his eyebrows raised. Plus the Benitez joke about Cara. He also basically explained how he was forced into those subs. Which makes more sense as usually he is astute with his subs. Kerkez - on a yellow Frimpong - felt his hammy. Couldn't play Gomez for 30min so had to try and get through 10 minutes with Endo at rb. Ekitike - was cramping due to the change in intensity and shorter preseason Even more this backs up the fact that we need to give him the tools in depth so that he has better options to use his tactical genius. Let's hope we can get our targets. I was surprised that he was so candid about the errors that led to the Bournemouth goals. Called out Szob and Mo in no uncertain terms. Refreshing on one hand, but not without risk. I like it. And Slot has earned the right to say it too.

Well, that was fun for the first game of the season.
Lots of things to work on .. I would have been really surprised had it been a free flowing, perfect display from our team .. too many new players in key positions to be integrated into the team, particularly on both flanks.
Ekitike - what a player, and what a humble youngster with his head screwed on the right way (based on his post match interview), acknowledging a lot of work to be done on fitness and adaptation. I think this lad is going to be huge for us .. you just see with his movement (look at how he created space for himself in the lead up to Cody's goal), strength on the ball, determination etc. Love the guy already.
Frimpong and Kerkez did ok .. Kerkez a little too 'enthusiastic' at times where a clear head is required, rushing into tackles etc - mitigating factor for him is home debut at Anfield against his old club, was always going to be a tough ask for him. Frimmy looked slightly more at home but also work to be done.
Wirtz - some excellent touches (you can see the quality oozing out of him) but quite a disconnect with a lot of our players - he brings a very different element to our play and it will take a while for him to integrate fully, I feel.
Ibou was painful to watch at times but then again so was VVD - he played a [bad] role in both goals .. couldn't cut out the cross for Semenyo's first and then danced the fandango while Semeneyo waltzed through for the second .. put in a tackle, FFS, give away a free kick if necessary but what the hell is standing off, and standing off, and standing off about. Having said that, if Gravy is playing, unlikely Semenyo hits the end of the centre circle before he is tackled or at very least pushed out wide so that the CB's can get back into position.
Chiesa - you ****** little beauty - the catalyst for our win, so chuffed for him .. I said in the transfer thread earlier this week that he won't - or shouldn't - be sold, because we need that extra option from the bench, even if we sign Isak. Should not be forgotten- we have lost 3 attackers and only bought one (so far), so an extra head is needed there .. looked lively when he came on and took advantage of a tiring Bournemouth defence. Tough team, Bournemouth - they will give many teams problems this season.
For me, Szobo currently wins the race for 3rd midfielder over Macca .. we really need his high octane performances in midfield currently .. good to have two quality options in the engine room though.
Found Slot's subs really puzzling but, after hearing him speak afterwards about his reasoning, it made more sense.
Off to the required start in our quest for back to back titles .. 3 points was always the primary goal here rather then a totally accomplished performance. We need to bring in Guehi and Isak though, more depth is required. If we do not bring in Isak, I would like to see another quality attacking option brought in .. not sure who, but am sure we have a plan B in case Isak stays at Newcastle.

Extremelly disappointed with the performance and the manager. Exact same shortcomings in terms of physicallity, legs, cohesion, seriousness etc. as towards the end of last season and against Palace. Way too many players on the pitch who don’t offer enough off the ball or in terms of tracking the opponent.
Szobo my motm by some distance. Played for 3 men out there for 90 minutes.

Dom was definitely the MoTM and needs to play against Newcastle and Arsenal. I don’t know what that means for either Mac or Wirtz but we need that monster physicality from him against those two teams.

You were probably being sarcastic or generally just talking ***, but you called a draw in the lead up to this. So not sure how you be so disappointed with the win. Ekitike was my man of the match - two direct goal involvements, linked midfield and attack in his league game for us. I think Grav will lay a much better platform for Macca & Wirtz and Dom can close it out with his legs. And of course this team is short a gallop leading into this. There are reasons why. They will get flogged in the lead to the next game with 10 days and they will match the Geordies on the pitch I am sure.

It was baffling that we took both full backs off on 60. It completely exposed the right side and we lost a lot of recovery pace. We got away with it in the end, but it was such an unnecessary thing to do.

Watching the highlights of the game on the official site...despite 13 minutes it highlights including some innocuous passages of play, they haven't included the first half handball incident. Seems very peculiar to me. Is this a regular thing they do on the All Red highlights - edit out controversial moments?

Our right side was wide open - poor Endo tried running back but just didn't have the pace to get back and cover that space. Had Frimpong been on the pitch he would definitely have been back quickly enough to help out his CBs in that situation. Hopefully we won't see any more of Frimpong being subbed off until Bradley is fit again.

Exciting game for sure. Highlight for me was the Anfield atmosphere. It was louder than I've heard it in years. From a playing perspective it was great in patches and completely shocking in others. The shape is all over the place, it looks like nobody knows where they are supposed to be off the ball. Similar to the early days of Klopp where it was all about risk versus reward. The difference being thay back then Virgil was at his very best and was like a one man clean up operation at the back. He isn't like that now and suddenly we look very easy to get at. On a positive note, Ekiteke looks like the signing of the summer. Class act, great movement, link up play, final product. For the second game in a row we looked a mess when he was taken off. Lack of depth is frightening. Even if we signed isak tomorrow we would still be light of options. Next 2 games will be very interesting, I could see us struggling to pick up a point if we play like that again. Improvement required big time

Anfield sounded absolutely rocking last night, and was good to see it decked in red as well. Hopefully we will start to control games better once our new team structure starts to gel more. And Ekitike is just amazing. Love him already.

On reflection, last night was always going to be difficult for us. It was an emotional night first and foremost. Diogo’s send off at Anfield was amazing but everyone associated with LFC, especially the players, will have found it tough. The game was the first official game of the season. We have lost a significant number of first team players which is a difficult starting position, and we’re trying to bed in 4 new starters, with more signings still to come in and other squad players leaving. It will take time for these players to adapt to the squad, formation, tactics, style of play etc. it won’t happen overnight. I suspect our real form won’t kick in until end of September at the earliest.
Despite all of the above, we won. 3 points obtained and top of the league. Job done!
Great to see Chizza score at the kop end, and loved his celebration. We really can hear them crying in Turin. There is a player in there. Hopefully Slot allows him to show that this season assuming he stays.
Great to see Gomez back.
Hugo is class. 2 goals in 2 games (Like Nunez, but is miles better than Nunez already). This lad is going to be on fire soon, Isak or no Isak.

Another quick point, we seen Quansah dropped and left out for a horrendous first half in the corresponding game last season away to Ipswich. Konates performance last night was significantly worse than that. He was abysmal. Guehi and Leoni will put both our centre halves under pressure for sure
